Vivant Energy, the power arm of Cebu-based conglomerate Vivant Corporation, has officially secured a 15-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA) to provide additional dependable electricity source for the island’s growing energy demand.
The agreement, signed on 30 December follows a successful Competitive Selection Process (CSP) conducted by the Province of Siquijor Electric Cooperative (PROSIELCO). Under the deal, Vivant Energy subsidiary Isla Dilaab Energy Corporation will operate a total of 11megawatt contracted capacity diesel power plant in Barangay Bogo, Maria, Siquijor and will supply power to the following municipalities: Larena, Lazi, Maria, San Jaun, Enrique Villanueva and Siquijor.
For PROSIELCO, the partnership marks a critical turning point for the island. PROSIELCO General Manager Glenn Galvan said. “We are excited about this partnership and we are hopeful that upon completion of the power plant, households and businesses will gain access to stable and dependable electricity.” she added.
As one of the Philippines’ emerging tourism destinations, Siquijor’s access to reliable electricity is critical to sustaining economic growth and improving quality of life for its residents. Siquijor led the Negros Island Region in GDP growth in 2024 (7.9%), reaching P13.78 billion, up from P12.77 billion in 2023.
