Casino Español de Cebu taps COREnergy to power members’ second home

Keeping a second home running for generations takes more than preserving traditions. It also means managing the costs and resources that keep the institution operating every day.

Casino Español de Cebu is taking that approach to its electricity supply, choosing COREnergy, the retail electricity arm of Vivant Energy, to power its operations under a retail electricity supply agreement covering a contracted capacity of 0.40 megawatts (MW).

For generations of Cebuano families, Casino Español has been a place where members, families, and friends gather. Its facilities host social gatherings, recreation, sports, cultural activities, and business engagements.

As a non-stock, non-profit corporation, Casino Español was established to provide its members, spouses, and children with social, recreational, sports, and cultural facilities and activities. It also promotes Spanish language and culture while fostering unity and cooperation in the community.

With electricity supporting the day-to-day operations of its facilities, the choice of a retail electricity supplier adds another consideration to how the institution manages its resources.

“Casino Español has always been a place where people come together — to build relationships, celebrate our traditions, and create lasting connections. As we continue serving our members and the Cebu community, we also want to make thoughtful choices in how we manage our operations,” said Luis Moro III, President of Casino Español de Cebu. “Our partnership with COREnergy gives us greater choice in our electricity supply, and we look forward to having them as a partner as we carry our institution’s traditions forward.”

The partnership comes as more businesses and institutions gain the ability to make choices about their electricity supply. Through the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) framework, qualified customers can select a retail electricity supplier that fits their energy requirements.

For COREnergy, the partnership adds a well-established Cebu institution to its growing portfolio of customers and reflects its commitment to providing businesses with greater choice in managing their electricity needs.

“We’re pleased to welcome Casino Español de Cebu to COREnergy. As a longstanding Cebu institution, it represents the kind of organization that continues to contribute to the community it serves,” said Marko Sarmiento, Vice President and Head of Operations of COREnergy. “We look forward to supporting Casino Español as it continues its tradition of bringing people together and serving its members and guests.”

For Casino Español de Cebu, choosing its electricity supplier represents another step in managing its operations with greater choice and flexibility. And as the Spanish tradition continues to live on in Cebu, the institution moves forward with COREnergy powering the place where generations of members have gathered, connected, and called their second home.
